As Vice Chair of Supply Chain Operations, Bruce Mairose has oversight for teams that are responsible for procurement, movement and payments of more than $4.0 billion in products and services and processes 1.2 million invoices across 400,000 unique payees.

The Mayo Clinic provides direct care to 1.2 million patients each year through an integrated clinical practice, education and research model and reached an additional 20 million lives through its online presence in 2014.  Mayo consists of 15 acute care facilities, 59,000 employees of which, 3,700 are physicians, scientists and researchers. 

Mayo Clinic Supply Chain Management in 2014 was ranked second for the third year in a row, by Gartner for Life Sciences as Best Performing Supply Chain as comparted to manufacturers, distributors, pharma companies and other healthcare providers. Mayo supply chain operation under Mr. Mairose’ leadership has received multiple awards for innovation in fraud prevention technology taking gold and silver against competitors such as Google, Microsoft and GE.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Mairose served as Director of Procure to Pay and as the Director of Operations Improvement for Mayo Clinic Supply Chain.  He has also has worked for Allina Health of Minneapolis, Minnesota within Supply Chain Management, Ambulatory Clinic operations and Departments of Respiratory and Neurology.

Synopsis
The objective for this session is to understand how Mayo Clinic has advanced and transformed its supply chain through a strategic vision and execution.  We will discuss the maturation of the supply chain across six foundational elements and the impact supply chain can have on the clinical practice.
