Biographical Sketch

Ms Rachael Hughes studied Pharmaceutical Sciences to gain her qualification as a Pharmacy technician before moving on to complete a post graduate diploma with the Open University in Business Management. She worked in the NHS for 8 years as a qualified pharmacy technician in Shropshire.

In 1998, she made a career switch moving into industry, i.e. working for AAH Pharmaceuticals for 10 years. Her last role at AAH was as Product Manager for a hospital Pharmacy web-based eProcurement system.

She has now been working at 3M Health Care for 6 years, with a responsibility for several different roles including eCommerce Management, Project Management and more recently in Strategic Marketing and Market Insight. Her focus is on gaining a strategic understanding of NHS aims and objectives and ensuring 3M is aligned to support its customers’ changing needs and environment.

Ms Rachel is an invited member of the GS1 UK Healthcare User Group Leadership Team and also chair to the ABHI eProcurement Working Group in the UK.
