Biographical Sketch

As the Director of the Healthcare Finance Division at the Ministry of Health since May 2011, Ms Lai Wei Lin oversees patient financing policies and government healthcare subsidies in Singapore.  This includes the ‘3Ms’ framework comprising Medisave, Medishield and Medifund, as well as government subsidies for a range of healthcare services, from tertiary to primary care. 

In July 2012, Ms Lai also took on the role of Director, Healthcare Leadership College at MOH Holdings.  Before this, she was Director of the Manpower Planning and Strategy Division within the Ministry, overseeing planning and strategic manpower development for the healthcare sector in Singapore. 

Prior to joining the Ministry of Health, Ms Lai worked on utilities and public housing policies at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of National Development respectively, as well as at the Singapore Civil Service College, where she headed the Centre for Governance and Leadership. She graduated from Harvard University in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree with honours, and has been with the Singapore Administrative Service since.
