Biographical Sketch

Associate Professor Agnes Tan is currently the Chairman of the Ambulatory & Clinical Support Services at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She graduated from the University of Singapore and was trained in Orthopaedic / Hand Surgery under Prof N Balachandran and Prof SK Tan. A/Prof Agnes Tan also underwent a one year training in Advanced Hand Surgery in United Kingdom and Switzerland before returning to join SGH’s Department of Hand Surgery. Her sub-specialty interests include microsurgery, congenital hand surgery and hand trauma.

A/Prof Agnes Tan is a member of SGH’s Specialist Training Committee (Hand Surgery) and was appointed Chairperson from Sept 2006 to Dec 2008. She is also currently a member of the Residency Advisory Committee (Hand Surgery) at the Ministry of Health, Singapore.


Besides clinical work, A/Prof Agnes Tan has a strong interest in training and development of young doctors, and change management to improve service quality, processes and patients’ experience. She holds the appointments of Associate Professor in Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS.
