Biographical Sketch

Mr Wu Tuck Seng
is the Deputy Director & Head of the Pharmacy Department, National University Hospital, Singapore. He holds a Master of Health Science (Management) degree from the University of Sydney (2005) and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree from the University of London, UK (1982).  He has worked as a hospital pharmacist for 27 years with professional interest in oncology, medication safety and clinical pharmacy.

He is the President of the Singapore Pharmacy Council and the Chairperson of the National Medication Safety Committee, Ministry of Health, Singapore.

He was the recipient of the first Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore Professor Lucy Wan’s Outstanding Pharmacist Award (1995) for contributions to the profession, the Minister for Health Award for the Tsunami Relief Operation and The Courage Fund Healthcare Humanity Award 2005. He was conferred the commendation medal by the President of Singapore at the 2005 National Day Awards for contributions to healthcare.

He led the NUH team that won the 2010 National Infocomm Award for innovation and the PS21 Excel Gold Award in 2011 for implementation of the inpatient closed loop medication management system to improve medication safety, a first in the Asia Pacific region.  

Synopsis

SC 4 - Enhancing Patient Safety Through Integrated Supply Chain Management 

Mr Wu will explore the use of innovative workflows, processes and the use of information technology to enhance patient safety. The presentation will look at how drug distribution can be integrated into the medication use process, how drug procurement should consider safety aspects, how the use of innovative drug delivery systems and the use of bar coding and closed loop inventory management can improve safety and enhance work efficiency.
