Mrs Lee Qi Ni is the Corporate Responsibility and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Lead for Malaysia and Singapore at Sodexo. In her current role, she drives business practices across areas including but not limited to food waste management, single-use plastic alternatives, sustainable eating, sustainable sourcing, carbon footprint reduction, gender empowerment and hiring of people with disabilities. 

Having garnered extensive experience in managing sustainability, community investments and philanthropic donations for businesses across food and beverage, hospitality, consumer retail and wellness sectors, Qi Ni firmly believes that sustainability can become second nature to businesses and individuals.

Mrs Lee Qi Ni holds a Bachelor of Business and Master of Science in Applied Gerontology from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

SC7: Sodexo’s Green Journey: Managing Food Waste and Responsible Sourcing

Food is an essential part of healthcare, supporting patients’ recovery and energising healthcare professionals. Food also has a significant environmental and security impact, especially in Singapore where over 90% of food is imported, and yet, about 30% of food is wasted.
 
Sodexo, a global food services provider, is committed to managing food waste and responsible sourcing. In this session, we will explore Sodexo's green journey and how it has implemented sustainable practices in healthcare institutions like KK Women and Children's Hospital.
 
While food waste cannot be reduced to zero, Sodexo has taken a proactive approach through our flagship Wastewatch by Leanpath programme, where our culinary teams measure and reduce food waste using technology. Complementary initiatives such as diverting excess food to local communities and recycling used cooking oil will also be shared.
 
Responsible sourcing is another important aspect of Sodexo's sustainability efforts. Since day one, we have committed to purchasing sustainable seafood, responsibly sourced palm oil and ethical coffee beans, as well as supporting local SMEs, social enterprises, and women-owned businesses.
