Presentation Synopsis
SC4: Keppel’s Roadmap on Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is key towards powering a net zero future. While Singapore has limited options on renewable sources, we are embedded in a region where there’s abundance of renewable sources such as wind, hydro or solar power.

Underpinning the first multilateral cross-border electricity trading initiative, Keppel became the first electricity importer to import up to a capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) of low-carbon electricity from Lao PDR into Singapore, also known as the Lao PDR-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP).

Besides the importation of power, Keppel are advancing on other solutions to accelerate efforts in decarbonizing the power sector. Keppel is pleased to be developing Singapore’s first hydrogenready 600 MW advanced Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT). This power plant will be the most efficient CCGT in Singapore and will help save up to 220,000 tons of CO2 per year—equivalent to taking 47,000 cars off the road every year.

In line with Vision 2030, Keppel will continue to strive to provide sustainable energy and urbanisation solutions for the ASEAN region and beyond.
