Dr Robert De Souza is the Executive Director of The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific since 2003. TLI ‐ Asia Pacific is a premier national institute housed at the National University of Singapore for nurturing logistics excellence in industry, postgraduate research and education.

Prior to joining TLI – Asia Pacific, Dr. de Souza was Executive Vice President for V3 Systems in the Asia Pacific, Corporate Senior Vice President and Global Chief Knowledge Officer at Viewlocity Inc. and Vice Chairman and CEO of SC21 Pte. Ltd. Dr. de Souza serves as the Program Manager for Logistics and SCM (Urban Systems Initiative) at the National Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore.

Dr de Souza has also been consulted by many multinationals, universities and government agencies. Dr. de Souza is a Chartered Engineer and received his Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. Honors in the United Kingdom. In 2014, Dr. De Souza was conferred the IEOM Distinguished Service Award by his peers and The Public Administration Medal (Bronze) by the President of the Republic of Singapore.

Presentation Synopsis
Contemporary Commercial Supply Chain Models and their Opportunity in
Healthcare

The speaker will share contemporary practices in supply chain management gleaned from the commercial sector and help navigate through a myriad of fulfilment options. He will explore why some of these might have high applicability in the future healthcare sector. The speaker will contemplate on how such models could enhance productivity and build new capabilities in low volume ‐high mix ordering and distribution environments. The speaker will also draw upon extensive research experience, in working with many large corporations, in lowering total cost to serve in the supply ecosystem whilst maintaining high availability and enhanced service levels. Cases, visualisation and simulation models will illustrate the session.
