Presentation Synopsis
HM15: Sustainability and the Healthcare Sector
Sustainability is a term that has been very widely used in all walks of life around the world. While this awareness is much desired in the face of evolving crises such as climate change and pandemic episodes, it has also inadvertently created significant confusion in the ensuing critical debate on the subject. This talk will address some of the sustainability related challenges and highlight various opportunities that the healthcare sector may encounter in its business as they relate to the built environment as a whole. Reference will be made to certain pertinent UN Sustainable Development Goals, e.g., 3. good health and well-being, 7. affordable and clean energy, 11. sustainable cities and communities, and 12. responsible consumption and production.
