After graduating from the Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo in 1982, Mr Masaya Watanabe joined Hitachi, Ltd. He also took a degree of Master of Science in Management (MOT) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School in 1991. After holding several management positions in the Computer Division, he was appointed to be Vice President and Executive Officer in 2012. He held several executive positions, including the Chief Strategy Officer of IT Company, President and CEO of Hitachi America and Chairman of Hitachi Consulting. Since April 2015, he has been appointed to be the CEO of Healthcare Company. He also served as Chairman of the Japan Federation of Medical Devices Associations, and adviser to the Japanese Headquarter of Healthcare Policy since 2017.

 



Presentation Synopsis
Healthcare Innovative Initiative in Japan

The presentation will start with an introduction of Hitachi Healthcare activities in Singapore, followed by an overview of the activities of medical devices companies in Japan. The healthcare and medical strategies in Japan, improvements in healthcare related environment to enhance innovation acceleration, and the new digital innovation in Japan, will be discussed. The digital innovation includes the adoption of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in medicine, AT Hospital, next generation operating room using IoT (internet of Things) and the national data base.
