An accountant by training and Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Ms Margaret Lee has more than 20 years’ experience in the local public healthcare system, with expertise in healthcare management, finance and corporate services development.  

As the Chief Executive Officer of SingHealth Community Hospitals, Ms Lee stewards the organisation’s efforts in establishing itself as a leading provider of sub-acute and rehabilitation care. Her guidance drives staff to adopt a new care model and deliver person-centred care to achieve patients’ health goals. Ms Lee also engages staff to foster an environment conducive for best practices and corporate governance, while maintaining financial effectiveness and sustainability.

Prior to her current appointment, Ms Lee was the Group Chief Financial Officer of the then-newly-formed National University Health System. She also served as Chief Financial Officer of National University Hospital, where she was pivotal in implementing IT systems and financial frameworks, and leading a successful financial turnaround.

Ms Lee has sat on the National Clinician Remuneration Committee and sub-committee as well as on various finance project committees set up by the Ministry of Health Holdings.  

Currently, Ms Lee is a member on the Bowen Secondary School Advisory Committee.  She is also SingHealth’s Deputy Group Chief Financial Officer (Regional Health System and Strategic Finance) and covering Director, SingHealth Office for Insights and Analytics.

1. Organisational Innovation In Intermediate Care – Sharing By SingHealth Community Hospitals

SingHealth Community Hospitals (SCH) is a new organisation set up in 2016 and comprises Bright Vision Hospital, Sengkang Community Hospital and Outram Community Hospital.  The presentation will cover SCH’s experiences in the area of organisational innovation for the purpose of improving care delivery of its patients and operational efficiency.  The sharing will also include the rationale and challenges of forming the new entity; the design of spaces and workflows in the hospitals to achieve integrated seamless care delivery; forming partnerships with key stakeholders including acute hospitals, primary and community partners to support patients across the care continuum; and bringing its people together to build SCH’s culture.
