Ms Joanne Yap’s career spans the private, not-for-profit and public sectors, starting as a journalist with the Business Times. As Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), National University Health System (NUHS), Ms Yap is tasked to oversee  the functional integration and leverage the strengths of functions in NUHS institutions to achieve operational excellence.

Prior to her current appointment, Ms Yap spent eight years with JurongHealth, initially as Chief Operating Officer and later GCOO, holding portfolios across the spectrum of hospital management in areas such as Corporate Planning and Performance Management, Operations, Quality Improvement, Information Technology and Information Management, Regional Health System development and Hospital Commissioning. She is passionate about strategy development, quality improvement and innovation, as well as developing healthcare administrators. 

Ms Yap graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore and subsequently obtained her Masters in Hospital and Healthcare Services at the University of Minnesota (USA) and Masters in Information Studies at the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). She also completed the Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program (2013).
