Ms Margaret DUGUID 

Margaret Duguid is the Pharmaceutical Advisor at the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and involved in leading and coordinating improvements in the safe use of medicines nationally.

Margaret is a member of the WHO High 5s Project Steering Group and project director for the Australian Highs 5s Medication Reconciliation project. She has a keen interest in patient safety, quality and safe use of medicines and had undertaken research and published in this area. Her particular interests are continuity of medication management, mediation reconciliation, standardisation and systems improvement, and antimicrobial stewardship.

Margaret has spent 25 years as director of hospital pharmacy, most recently at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Margaret has also worked in community pharmacy in Australia and Scotland; and the pharmaceutical industry.

Margaret has served as Federal President of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) and Chair of the SHPA Research and Development Grants Advisory Committee. She was awarded the Merck Sharp Dohme (Australia) Medal for Pharmacy Practice In 1995, and received the Fred J Boyd award for service to Australian hospital pharmacy in 2005.

Margaret was visiting HMDP expert for medication reconciliation to the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2012.
