Biographical Sketch

Ms Karen Perera
is the Assistant Director, Nursing and responsible for Quality Management in the Nursing Division of the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). 

A State Registered Nurse (SRN), Ms Perera has extensive experience in clinical care. She had Post Basic training in Paediatric and Neonatal Nursing; and attended 12-week training in King’s College Hospital, United Kingdom, on Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery.

Ms Perera also holds a Master of Health Science (Management) from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management & Leadership (SingHealth – Singapore Management University.)

In addition to administration and clinical quality services, she is active in research to bring nursing care to greater heights. Her research interests are wide ranging, including post-surgical care, patient safety and quality improvement in healthcare. 

Ms Perera has presented her research findings at various local and overseas conferences and scientific meetings. Her research papers were published in the SGH Proceedings.
